How to get there

You  can get to the historical cities by car and you can get faster if you take a plane to the airport of Confins, in Belo Horizonte, and then hit the road.

What to take

You need to take comfortable clothes for hot and cold weather, a camera, trousers and boots to visit the mines. If you don't bring these items, they won't let you enter the mines. These are basic things.

Where to Eat / What to Eat

You can eat in Casa dos Contos, it is a beautiful place with  good tradicional food. In Tiradentes you can go to Divino Sabor or  Panela de Minas, where you can eat typical food, too. In the pictures you can see "pão de quejo", a bread made with "mineiro" cheese and " feijão tropeiro" a recipe made with beans and sausages.

Where to Stay

You can stay in small hotels or in inns; they are very comfortable but not luxurious. In Ouro Preto there is a good hotel called Hotel Providencia and in Tiradentes you can stay in Ponta do Morro hotel.

What to See/do

You have a lot of things to see, like São Francisco de Assis church. This church was built in 1776 and  is Aleijadinho's masterpiece and the highest expression of the rococo style. You can go to Casa dos Contos museum, and there are various statues along the cities. You can also visit the mine of Vale do Rio Doce and Chico Rei mine. You can visit a wonderful person, called Tião Painera, who is a sculptor who transmits happiness, and has lots of histories to tell. We can do a workshop of pottery whith Beth. You can go to the museum of Inconfidencia, that shows the history of one important rebellion the history of Brazil, called "Inconfidência Mineira".

Weather

The weather is nice in this region, it is warm during the day and a little cold at night. 

Location of the Cities

The Southeast of Brazil, is a region of gold mines and brought a lot of history to Brazil. In that region there are a lot of buildings and paintings of the "Barroco" style, very beautiful to see.
